The journey of creating my first Tuchofen began in winter 2014 at the ceramic workshop of the University of Applied Arts. It continued at Charterhouse Mauerbach, Training Center for Traditional Handicraft Techniques of the Cultural Heritage Agency of Austria, and extended to La Fornace degli Artisti di Cunardo near Milan, and the workshop of Matthias Schawerda in Niederösterreich. Each Tuchofen is crafted in one piece and then cut into sections when nearly dry. For instance, Tuchofen 3 was fired in a specially built kiln at Mauerbach, using traditional wood-firing techniques.
